Targeted Employment and Education Support

The Australian Government has announced over $27 million in additional supports for Afghan Evacuees to Australia over the next two years and HOST International has been selected to provide targeted assistance to make the transition to work and study in Australia.

When the Afghan Government fell to the Taliban on 15th August 2021, the Australian Government evacuated about 4,100 people and about 3,500 of these will remain in Australia under a number of visa categories with most expected to be granted a humanitarian visa to remain permanently in Australia. Many have rapidly fled Afghanistan with little other than the clothes on their backs.

HOST has expertise in the provision of career coaching to migrants and refugees and now has the opportunity to use these skills to support Afghan evacuees to minimise gaps in work and study and to ensure that they are able to rapidly integrate into Australian society.

We are currently putting a great team together to undertake this work and more information will be available soon. We expect to be able to start accepting referrals in early November and will provide more information on this page as it becomes available. In the meantime you can support our special Afghan appeal by making a tax deductible donation towards employment and education costs or by registering to become a jobseeker mentor.

Register Your Interest

If you are an Afghan person who arrived with the evacuation cohort you may register your interest below and someone will be in touch when we start the program.
