When the Afghan Government fell to the Taliban on 15th August 2021, the Australian Government evacuated about 4,100 people and about 3,500 of these will remain in Australia under a number of visa categories with most expected to be granted a humanitarian visa to remain permanently in Australia. Many have rapidly fled Afghanistan with little other than the clothes on their backs.
HOST has been contracted by the Federal Government to provide career coaching to support Afghan evacuees to minimise gaps in work and study and to ensure that they are able to rapidly integrate into Australian society. A key feature of this support is the Professional Mentoring Program which links Afghan participants with Professional Mentors in their industry to provide local knowledge, networks, industry specific advice and support to support towards securing meaningful employment in their field.
We are currently seeking applications for Professional Mentors from all professional backgrounds in all States and Territories, via the form below. Once your application is received our Mentor Coordinator will make a time to meet you online to discuss your involvement.
